There are many factors that contribute to getting the most tone out of your guitar. The easiest way to improve tone is change your strings often. Technique definitely does play an integral part in achieving killer tone but it is just one of many factors. Having a skilled luthier or tech set up your guitar for your style is a big one too. But to be completely honest the true secret is as simple as this. Play good music. Play music that you love and keep your playing true to the music. We as players tend to let our ego’s get in the way of simply playing what sounds good. Just focus on the music and tone will follow. I promise.
